Welcome Chess Friends! We meet every “non-holiday” on Thursday per below. Call Me: (916) 768-5042

Post COVID era, we are continuing our meetings at the Auburn Chess Club every Thursday night between 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Panera Bread at 2845 Bell Rd. (see it from the Grass Valley Highway 49), Auburn, CA.  The club is across the street from the Wells Fargo Bank on Highway 49.   Brian Morris started this club and ran it for many years donning one of the largest chess tournaments ever held in the Greater Sacramento Area, the 1st Auburn Power Open, and we are planning to run another large weekend tournament this year.  Our purpose is to offer Auburn and nearby regions a place to play other chess players, a place to play in club tournaments, help newcomers learn the game, and provide chess related information for those seeking it.  We are also looking at options to run Quick Chess tournaments of 20 minutes per side with a 2-second delay, and we will sometimes have weekend tournaments that Brian posts for our AuburnCC on Facebook, … but we usually just have friendly casual play. 🙂

Hey this is Austin, I was wondering if you coded this website using HTML and other programming languages or if you used a website that helps the contrition of the website really easy?

      Hi Austin! 🙂

I just used a program called WordPress, which is free to me and easy to use. I have free webspace through my good friend, Michael Babigian, who is a very strong programmer (you met him at our chess club). You should be able to create a website like this in under 30 minutes (and the plain-envelope look of this site suggests it :). Sometimes I have used Adobe’s Dreamweaver (free to students, but you may have to prove you are a student … easy to do), which has a lot more tools for building web sites.

I have taught Web Design courses and am very familiar with HTML, but once you have learned a few things about HTML it is time to use something better, like Dreamweaver. Adobe’s Flash software is fun to use for moving/3D views of things on a website. Let me know if you want to build databases. I taught CS 63 at Sierra Community College (Cold Fusion software) as a tool for handling databases, but there are cheaper/free alternatives. 🙂

May God be with You and Yours. 🙂

      Your Friend,
      Arthur

What is the age group? I have a 12 year old son that is interested.

Hi Chess Players. I’m a beginner needing game time with people who like to help others improve. I live in Orangevale and I want to meet someone nearby for a regular morning or afternoon chess game at a nearby park or coffee shop.

Is your group still meeting at Denny’s in Auburn? Do you still welcome walk-in beginners? I’m a 70-year-old retired woman, and I’m afraid I’ve been bitten by the chess bug. Is there a cure?

    Sincerely seeking,
    Annie

      Hi Annie! 🙂
I must admit that I do not visit my own website often enough, so please send emails to:

We meet at the Round Table Pizza in Auburn, CA (there is no other Round Table in Auburn) from about 6:30PM – 9:30 PM every Thursday night. We do welcome beginners, and indeed we do have several that have only been playing a few months. We also have a few low-medium level players, and certainly everyone here is friendly. We have players of all ages, including an 8 year-old girl, a few boys in the 10-13 year-old range, and one player who is 68 years old. We would love to have you!
My phone number is: (916) 768-5042 if you have questions about the club. 🙂 Arthur Braden
